Weather forecast

The weather forecast function provide weather forecasts for each point.

In Brevet, people travel long distances and long time. The weather for this process cannot be grasped with a one-point forecast. When you create a plan with Brevet Manager, the estimated arrival time for each point is calculated. The weather forecast function of Brevet Manager is to obtain the corresponding weather forecast for each point from this estimated arrival time and location information and display it in a list on the weather forecast screen.

Therefore, in order to use the weather forecast function, GPS location information must be added to each point. The weather forecast can be called from planning screen and tracking screen.

It need to care following precautions when using the weather forecast information.
  • The weather forecast source we are using is OpenWeatherMap. The forecast period and forecast accuracy depend on the forecast source.
  • In order to reduce the load on the forecast source server, once the forecast information is acquired, it cannot be reacquired for 10 minutes. The forecast is updated about once every three hours, so it is not necessary to obtain it frequently.
  • The same function can be used in the free version, but a video ad will be displayed when information is acquired. You can get the weather information by watching the video ad to the end.

===========================================

1. Weather forecast from plan view

Display the weather forecast screen from "Weather forecast (Beta)" in the menu of the planning screen.

The weather forecast screen is displayed. If you have never obtained a forecast, no forecast information will be displayed.

From the screen menu, tap "Forecast date" to set the forecast date.

The date specified here is the start date of the brevet. For example, set 10/24 and tap OK to get the forecast information. The forecast for each point will be displayed on the schedule that departs from the starting point at 7:00 on October 19th.

The forecast displays the information of "the area where the GPS position of the point is included". Since the forecast area of PC1 convenience store A is Machida city, the forecast of Machida city is used. The forecast of the corresponding forecast time is displayed. The forecast for OpenWeatherMap is every 3 hours. Since PC1 is scheduled to arrive at 8:40, the forecast for 9:00 in Machida City will be displayed.

As with plans and results, you can also output an image listing each point. It is convenient for posting to articles and SNS.

The weather forecast for each point is displayed in chronological order up to the finish point.

2. Refresh forecast

The forecast information once acquired is saved in the plan file. If there is forecast information in the plan file, it will be displayed on the weather forecast screen. It does not automatically follow the changes made after the weather forecast was acquired, and the plan and forecast at the time of acquisition are displayed purely.

If the plan is updated or the forecast information is out of date, the forecast need to be updated. When the forecast is updated, the plan contents at that time are referred to and the latest forecast information is acquired. When updating the forecast, only the information will be updated without resetting the forecast date.

3. Weather forecast from tracking view

You can use this weather forecast function not only on planning view, but also tracking view. There is a menu that calls the weather forecast screen when you press the menu button at the top right of the screen.

The same screen as when planning is displayed. The functional operation is almost the same. The only difference is that you don't need to set the forecast date because it is assumed that the brevet has already started on the execution screen. Forecast information can be obtained by updating the forecast.

Same with the plan view, what is retained is the contents at the time of forecast information acquisition. Even if the Brevet advances to the destination point, even if the estimated arrival time changes, it will not automatically update. Please update the forecast manually if necessary.

Also, forecast information is retained only while Brevet. After the completion of Brevet, you cannot see the forecast information acquired in the past from the result screen.

4. Beta function

We are currently offering this weather forecast feature as a beta feature. This does not mean that it is functionally unstable, and there may be changes in the way it is provided in the future, so we are in beta.

To obtain weather information data, it is necessary to cooperate with an external service that provides weather forecast information. In the future, there is a possibility that the linked service will be changed, the function will be cut out as a separate paid function, or the function itself will be abolished. Despite the uncertainty, we believe this feature has some value and we are offering it in beta first.
