Evidence Mode (V2.3)

Evidence mode allows you to limit the ability to edit planning files. This is useful when you want to use the Brevet Manager as a brevet evidence, as you can make the elements required to certify the completion of the Brevet immutable.

Specifically, the following items cannot be changed.
  • Add/remove PC and Secret type points
  • Editing name, Distance, Open time, Close time and coordinate for required points which are Start, Finish, PC, Secret points.
  • Add/remove GPX track file

If you distribute the plan file widely, you can use the evidence mode plan to prevent unexpected alterations. Evidence mode plan show special icon to indicate that.

There are restrictions on the editing contents of the evidence mode plan file, but there are no restrictions on the functions that can be used on the execution screen and result screen. Simply put, Evidence Mode is a partial edit lock feature for planning files.

<What is Evidence mode>

Evidence mode is a plan file that limits the editing capabilities of the plan. This is useful when you want to use the Brevet Manager as a evidence, as you can make the elements required to certify the completion of the Brevet immutable. Plans exported as evidence mode will not be able to edit those elements.

<Organizer feature>

To use the evidence mode, turn on "Show organizer features" on the setting screen. The setting item is  at the bottom of the setting screen.

Then export the plan. As with the normal export procedure, show the plan you want to export, show the menu from the menu button on the upper right, and tap "Export plan as plan file".

When the organizer feature is turned on, the Export Plan dialog is displayed, giving you the option of exporting as a normal plan (normal mode) or in evidence mode.

Tap Export in Evidence Mode.

<Requirements for Evidence mode>

According to the contents of the plan, errors may be displayed.

In order to export in evidence mode, the conditions for that must be met. The following three are the conditions for the evidence mode.

  1. It does not include "user points" that are not a requirement for completing the Brevet. In other words, the plan consists of only 3 types of start, finish, PC and Secret.
  2. GPS coordinates are set at all points
  3. GPX track file has been load

Since the evidence mode plan is information distributed to participants, it should be a plan that contains only the information necessary for completing the Brevet.

The arrival judgment of each PC using GPS information is made based on the distance between the target coordinates set in the plan file in advance and the GPS information recorded at the time of arrival. Therefore, it is necessary to set the GPS information of the specified point in advance in the evidence mode plan file to be distributed.

Also, by setting the plan file to evidence mode, the function to add / delete GPX files is locked, so it is a condition to load it in the plan file in advance.

If these conditions are met, it can be exported as evidence mode. As a final setting, enter the brevet identifier. This will be used as the file name when exporting.

Use these steps to export the evidence mode plan file. Please distribute the exported plan file to the participants on the information site.

<Import Evidence mode plan>

Plans exported as evidence mode will be imported and used. Import on the plan list screen in the same way as the normal import procedure. Evidence mode plans are marked with an orange star icon to distinguish them from regular plans.

The same applies to the planning screen, and the orange star icon is displayed.

Evidence mode has more limited editing functions than normal mode. The following are the restricted contents.

  • Add/remove PC and Secret type points
  • Editing name, Distance, Open time, Close time and coordinate for required points which are Start, Finish, PC, Secret points.
  • Add/remove GPX track file

Roughly speaking, the points required for Brevet completion certification and the information cannot be edited. For these, we will drive according to the plan contents created by the organizer.

Conversely, the evidence mode plan also allows editing to add your personal stop points, and you can edit the information for those points.

Also importantly, the start time of the Brevet can be changed by the participants. If participants can change the start time, they can edit it accordingly. The time indicated by the red arrow at the top of the screen in the figure below is the start time of the Brevet.

In the figure, the time shown in blue is the setting of the departure time of the start point. Please note that it is easy to confuse it with the start time of Brevet.

If you change the start time, the Open time, Close time, etc. of subsequent PCs will be changed with the same difference. As long as you create a reference plan, the Open time and Close time will be changed automatically according to the change of the start time.

<Start tracking with Evidence mode plan, and edit result>

The only special operation in the evidence mode is that you cannot edit the following items as described above. You can execute the plan and edit the results after execution in the same way as in normal mode.

If you distribute plan file with evidence mode, nobody will be able to change the elements required for proof of completion. For example, the distance of each PC and the Close time cannot be changed in the evidence mode. So if it is displayed as completed on the app, it means the required items set by the organizer will be cleared.

It can be used as an evidence tool for Brevet or cycling events within the group. Please also use the evidence report function released in Version 2.3.
